As an attempt to further promote his new project band,Soul of We, earlier this week guitar hero George Lynch premiered a music video from the band. The new clip was made for the band's first single titled the "Skeleton Key" taken from their debut album named "Let The Truth Be Known".
The clip itself looked to be shoot during one of the band's live performance as it only sees shots of George and the band members performing at a intimate venue. The quality of the video however was very good as you can really hope that they will probably released a live DVD version of their concerts.

According to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame organizers, another blues guitar legend, Jeff Beck will be the one who replace Eric at the event.

An exciting breaking news arrives for music fans especially guitar heads in Italy as they will have the chance to see guitar hero, Greg Howe in action along with his new side project band called the UZ Project. The band stated via their official news letter that they will be staging a North America tour starting next year in support of their upcoming album.
The tour itself is scheduled to kick off on February 19, 2010 at KeyArena, Seattle WA and set to finish on July 30, 2010 at Soldier Field, Chicago IL. Playing fast guitar always gives a special feeling for most guitar players, especially if you can play not only quick but accurate challenging guitar licks cleanly. There are lots of methods of producing and practicing fast guitar licks, on this edition I want to share a cool shredding lick that I came up with and personally I believe that it would work well for young guitarist who wants to be a shredder.,
The lick that I arranged below is based on Paul Gilbert's tricky “Colorado Bulldog” intro lick, it is no actually a precise copy of it but basically it has the same idea, though you can call mine is a much more simple version of Paul's. As some of you guitar heads might know Colorado Bulldog was written on E, and it has lots of “terrifying” pentatonic stretches, so I came up with a bit different pattern than PG's lick.
I named this sort of “Colorado Bulldog” style lick, “Penta Shred” which refers to Pentatonic Shredding lick. It is pretty much based on A minor pentatonic lick that I rearranged in a sort of way that it actually sounded so much like Colorado Bulldog, as maybe because I do use the same techniques that PG did, which is hammering on the first string and picking that string after it.
As you can see from the lick below, In playing the “Penta Shred” I do a (what it's called as ) sixtuplet pentatonic of A minor/C major . The pattern is similar to Colorado Bulldog, as I hit the C note (downstroke) and hammering on D and E than for the second part of the sixtuplet, I pick another three notes (D-E-G) alternately, starting with an upstroke. That's the whole pattern from top to bottom for the ascending part as for the descending part, I play the same exact note from the latter to the top and ad A minor note in the end. The different thing from the ascending part is off course instead of using hammer on, I kick start the part with pull-offs.
If you guys have practice, Colorado Bulldog than you would be familiar with this kind of lick, it is as previously said an easier finger exercise technique compare to Paul's crazy stuff. I also believe that it would be a good practice for any level especially for those at intermediate as it would still be a little tough for beginner to play it cleanly. As for the tempo, I set 102 on my metronome as a basic practicing speed that you can always speed up as fast as you can, due remember playing it cleanly is always your first goal rather than trying to speed things up but making lots of mess all around.
Although it is not actually 100% originally created lick, I do hope that it will work well for those who are practicing their skills and plan to be the next shredder, it may not be a spectacular lick but it would help your fingering and your speed control. I will keep posting another cool lick that I can came up with that will help young and beginner guitar players to take up a speed and prove that you can shred too!!!!! Rock On!
The lick that I arranged below is based on Paul Gilbert's tricky “Colorado Bulldog” intro lick, it is no actually a precise copy of it but basically it has the same idea, though you can call mine is a much more simple version of Paul's. As some of you guitar heads might know Colorado Bulldog was written on E, and it has lots of “terrifying” pentatonic stretches, so I came up with a bit different pattern than PG's lick.
I named this sort of “Colorado Bulldog” style lick, “Penta Shred” which refers to Pentatonic Shredding lick. It is pretty much based on A minor pentatonic lick that I rearranged in a sort of way that it actually sounded so much like Colorado Bulldog, as maybe because I do use the same techniques that PG did, which is hammering on the first string and picking that string after it.
As you can see from the lick below, In playing the “Penta Shred” I do a (what it's called as ) sixtuplet pentatonic of A minor/C major . The pattern is similar to Colorado Bulldog, as I hit the C note (downstroke) and hammering on D and E than for the second part of the sixtuplet, I pick another three notes (D-E-G) alternately, starting with an upstroke. That's the whole pattern from top to bottom for the ascending part as for the descending part, I play the same exact note from the latter to the top and ad A minor note in the end. The different thing from the ascending part is off course instead of using hammer on, I kick start the part with pull-offs.

Those two master class would definitely be a special opportunity for Canadian guitar heads to get real time lesson from Steve himself in a very intimate atmosphere. For those who wants to experienced this one of a lifetime chance, should better booked their place ASAP as according to the official news, there will only be 100 seats for both classes.

An interesting news arrives from Extreme's axeman and guitar legend, Nuno Bettencourt, as through his official MySpace page, the guitar hero revealed that he will be staring in a musical video for a renown sitcom "How I Met Your Mother". The virtuoso will be appearing on the video with Jason Segel and also other famous stars such as Neil Patrick Harris, Cobie Smulders, Alyson Hannigan and Josh Radnor.
According to the guitar master's official MySpace Page the video made is a (kind of) re-creation of Extreme's hit single "More Than Words". Off course the sitcom itself is knows for their constant fun of re-making what they consider of great tunes and make HIYM's own version clip of it, and now it seems Extreme finally get a shot of it via Nuno's appearance.
However looking from the short sneak preview of what will the video would be, the song is totally a different thing from Extreme's "More than Words", it is a bit of crazy song sing by Jason Segel himself. Guitar Virtuoso, Greg Howe announced and exciting news for his fans in Russia as via his official site and MySpace page, the guitarist stated that he will be performing at the country. According to his site, Greg will be doing to shows at Philhalmornic Hall, Perm, and B1 Club in Moscow on 9 & 10 November.
For the two shows at the country, Greg will be accompanied with a line up of great musicians, such as Eddie Jobson, Ric Fierabracci, and Marco Minnemann. That list of musicians who will help out the guitarist's two shows are not that different from the line-up for his upcoming tour in Poland with the U-Z Project, as at the project there are also Eddie and Marco accompanying the guitar virtuoso alongside Tony Levin and John Wetton.
Just as i mentioned beside performing in Russia, in November, Greg will also head to Poland to do some shows with a project band called U-Z project. They are scheduled to play at three venues there from November 3-5 and looked like it will be a great show too there, so for music fans in Poland you better catch them out.

The two guitar master will be doing clinic together at a master class event organized by Topp String Guitar Tuition.
The clinic will be staged on October 31 at the Bexhill Amateur Athletic Club, Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex.TN39 4HU. the door for the event will be open from 7 P.M. At the clinic the two guitar masters will be sharing the stage together, performing and taking questions from the attendants. The two virtuosos performance are also set to be more electrifying as they will be supported by a top local session musician the Seafood Allstars.
Beside doing the clinic, on the day of the event, Guthrie and Carl will also do a special Master Class, which is scheduled a few hours before the clinic. At the master class the two masters will each give a special and limited lesson to attendants. The news was confirmed by Dragonforce's official website, stating that Angra is being tapped as the U.K's Shred Metal band's special guest at their South American tour.
According to Dragonforce's website, Angra will be joining the English base rockers gig at Porto Alegre, Brazil on November 06. It will surely a blast for fans that already plan to see the U.K metal act at the venue as now they will also have the chance to rock out with their local hero.
Despite the announcement that Angra will be act as Dragonforce's special act at their concert, there is no official confirmation or news on whether they will be doing a collaboration together. Inspiration to make songs, music or anything can be found from anywhere, anything that probably doesn't even had any correlation or whatsoever such as with weathervane and music. You guys might be wondering is there any connection between weathervanes, music and guitar, but for fun purpose I accidentally did found an interesting connection between them, which is the usage of weathervane as a theme to write songs.
The fact can be seen in some tracks titled weathervane that I stumbled on these days, and correlating it with guitar well there is one song titled weathervane that was written and played by one of the best guitarist in the world, Michael Schenker on his band MGS's album named . The song Michael wrote was not actually telling details about weathervanes, but more of using it's function as a representation of a person's attitude as it can be seen from a part of its lyrics that said, “Like a weathervane turnin when the wind is right...you're gonna keep on spinnin til ya see the ligh.”
Beside becoming a song title in one of Michael's songs, I also find the word weathervane being used as the name of an album by a band called The Gougers who named their record “A Long Day for the Weathervane song”. Though I personally haven't had a clue on why they would named their album that way, but the obvious thing is that just as Michael, the band also recognize and uses the functions of weathervane and put it into a use for their work.
Personally I think that the reason weathervane can be such an inspiring object for musicians is because of its unique functions and way of operation. The fact that the use of weathervanes is to show the direction of the wind, it can sometimes represent the feeling or attitude of a person as people who often change his mood or opinion. However, even the style or shape of weathervanes can also become an inspiration for musicians as it have many unique and inspiring models these days.
This fact kind of give me the conclusion that as long as we are creative we can actually find new and different things that can be implemented on the work we are doing, in this case, music. In order to write great music or songs, all we need to do is open or mind to lots of things in the world, finding new meanings, terms and maybe even way of thinking. The re-united rockers have just finished their recent European tour and will head back to Asia to do some shows there, here you can find the latest updates of the venue and dates for their upcoming Asia tour. In this entry you can also catch some of their latest videos while rocking the stages in Europe.
The band started their European leg on September 4 at Rock Cafe, Tallin, Estonia and just ends it on October 1, at Universiada Hall, Sofia, Bulgaria. The tour looks to be a successful one as the band always had a pack and alive fans watching their shows. The fact that they haven't been playing such a long time also makes the show is a worthy experience for their fans in Europe.
However the band won't have lots of time to rest as this month they will be flying again to a different part of the world and ready to rock their devotees for a whole month. Just as I said, they will be rocking Asia once again and after revealing some dates earlier, the band have updated the news about their upcoming Asian leg and there are some changes that can be found. One of the is the fact that they cancel the show in Bali, that actually was posted earlier.
Replacing the canceled Bali schedules, Mr. Big adds more dates on their upcoming Asia tour especially the shows in India. Earlier the band only scheduled 3 shows in India, but the latest updates from the band's official site stated that they will do 5 performances there. Beside India, the rockers are also scheduled to pay a visit to Thailand, Singapore and South Korea.

After having already confirmed a date to perform at London's 02 on February 13 2010, two guitar legends Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton recently announced that they will be adding one more show at the same venue. Revealing the news via his official site, Jeff stated that he and Eric will be playing one more gig at O2 on February 14 2010, right on the next day after the first show.
Moreover, as it was wrote on Jeff's site the reason that the two guitar heroes decided to add another show at London's O2 was because the huge demands off the tickets for the first show that reportedly has already been sold out. In order to give their appreciation for fans that fail to purchase tickets for the first gig, Jeff and Eric quickly decided to do one more and supposedly final show at O2.
The pair's upcoming shows at the O2 will actually be their second official performance on stage together as previously they did it at Saitama Super Arena few months ago, which was a huge success as not only it attracts the crowd but the show also got an excellent reviews from press. Exciting news for guitar heads especially Steve Morse's devotees as the latest news stated that the guitar virtuoso is planning to do a guitar clinic this month. Announcing it via his official site, Steve revealed the he will be giving a clinic sponsored by Ernie Ball, MusicMan and Dubaldo music which will be held on Saturday, October 24 at 4:00 PM.
The clinic will be staged at the famous Cheney Hall, which is located at 177 Hartford Road in Manchester, Connecticut. The good news is, admission for the event is free of charge so you guitar heads can just visit the Cheney Hall and rocked out there. Moreover, the clinic itself will includes live performance, a question and answers period and also tips to improve your playing techniques.
Another details about the upcoming clinic that the attendants should now is that the seats available for the event is for 335 people with an additional standing room available and it will be a first come first serve basis system for the seating. The holiday season is coming soon and there are lots of fun things that people have been waiting and cant wait to be doing, such as enjoying the lovely snow, holiday music, relaxing time with family and loved ones and putting Christmas accessories such as nativity scene, Christmas trees, etc. Among those interesting list of expected things on holiday time, there are two things that interest me more are listening to holiday songs and seeing lovely nativity scene.
The reason that makes me have so much interest on those two things above is because both of them manage to create that unique and comforting atmosphere for me. Although the enjoyment of having music and nativity sets are different, but the result that I feel after enjoying both are pretty much the same. For me either holiday music or native scene have the ability to create such a joyful atmosphere that I always looking forward to have during the holiday season.
Just as we know, holiday music is the thing that we will only hear and enjoy during holiday times as the feeling and atmosphere of listening to that joyful tunes will definitely sparks our holiday season. Moreover, during holiday this kind of music is being played not only by specialist musicians but also lots of famous musicians. As a guitarist I have noted some great names that loves to play this kind of tunes, such as Steve Lukather, Nuno Bettencourt and Neil Zaza. Just weeks before the event starts, the Manson's Guitar Show's organizers finally announced the official line up for the brand exhibitors and artists that will light up the show. Among the names of the guitar and bass masters that will be appearing at the event,is Pink Floyd's bass player Guy Pratt and as for the guitarist, there will be Dario Cortese from Music Man guitars endorser.
The event itself will be staged on October 24 and 25 at the Riverside Leisure Centre, Exeter, and is being set to be an entertaining event for music fans especially guitar heads and bass players. What makes the event interesting is the appearance of several big music instruments brand such as, Marshall, Peavey, PRS, Ernie Ball, Rotosound, Orange, Fender, Roland and many more that will promote their latest gears for the attendants.
Moreover, to make the attendants more attracted there will also be prize offer at the event from the exhibitors that worth a lot. According to the event's official press release, last year there's £3,000 worth of equipment were being given by Marshall, Orange and also Peavey.

The legendary guitar hero revealed an interesting statement in his latest interview as he stated that he won't mind to do a tour together with his former band Dokken. The guitarist said that he would love to have his current band Lynch Mob and his old band Dooken hitting the road together in the future.
The guitar legend revealed an interesting statement during his latest interview with Kevin "Taz" Conklin of "The Big Dumb Radio Show" (web site). Answering to Kevin's question about whether his band Lynch Mob would do a tour to promote their latest album "Smoke and Mirrors", George said he is planning to do a tour with Lynch Mob and not only that he also wants his ex-band Dokken to team up with them.
Revealing his plan to do Dokken-Lynch Mob Tour, George said, "I'm talking a little preemptively here, but one of the things on the table is a potential DOKKEN-LYNCH MOB tour — kind of like thatWWF spectacle where you come out with all that history and get people talking, and that's always good." Jokingly the guitar legend also added, "And we'll play someDOKKEN songs as well in our set. And they're welcome to play someLYNCH MOB songs, but that's not gonna happen... I'm kidding."
Moreover, when being asked if the tour should happen would George do a short reunion with Dokken on stage, the guitarist stated that he would. "Absolutely. That's be part of the deal. I'd come out at the end and we'd have a little reunion, and it'd be awesome. Me and Don [Dokken] could come out, make out for a while, and then we'd dive into a couple of old DOKKEN songs for old times' sake," George said.
