Guitar soloing and improvisation is one of the most artistic and expressive types of guitar playing that a guitarist can learn. It is a showcase of precision, skill, technique, and creativity that blows the mind and leaves awestruck faces in every crowd.
A lot goes into perfecting guitar improvisation and all the techniques that can be used in this style of guitar playing. Guitar improvisation requires dedication, patience, time, and practice, practice, practice. This is the first and most important tip that anyone can give, even though it may seem typical and not very advanced. It's amazing how many people try to grow as musicians without perfecting their skills and practicing their craft daily.
Another tip that can greatly improve your guitar improvisation is to play along with a CD. Put on one of your favorite CDs and when there is a pause or a bridge somewhere in the song, play some chords or a scale in the key of the song over the music playing in the background.
You can also learn the chords to the song and play some arpeggios over the changes in the song. Learning how to play arpeggios is a crucial skill to learn to improve your improvisation technique, and if you don't already know how to play them, you should learn them and put them in your arsenal of improvisational tools.
Another great tip for guitar improvisation is to try playing chord scales. When you use this method you are simply using chords instead of scales and melodies. The main idea of this is that you are playing a scale with a chord connected to it.
One great method to use when you're trying to improve your improvisation skills is to use guitar backing tracks. Guitar backing tracks are great for improvisation because it's like playing with a whole backing band, and allows you to improvise and put into practice all of your skills and tools in putting together awesome leads to go with the track. Playing along to a backing track will also help you to perfect your timing skills and will increase the enjoyment you get from playing along.

After performing at the BB Kings, Richie is preparing himself for another long tour, this august he will be flying to Europe, mostly in Italy, to do some acoustic shows there. Not only dates, according to the latest news on the guitar virtuoso's official site and MySpace page, he confirmed that in October-December he will be flying to U.K. and some other countries in Europe for what it looks like a full band tour.
In other news, beside preparing for his European road trip, the guitar master recently has also announced an exciting news to his fans, revealing that he has finished the work for his latest album. The new LP, which will be titled "Peace Sign" is being set to his the stores this fall, unfortunately Richie, hasn't confirmed any fixed date yet fot the release of his new record.

Promoting the new items, Favored Nations through their official newsletter, promises fans that the upcoming Live album will be a special one as the 2 hours and 4 minute long set sees some new tracks from Steve and also re-orchestrated pieces of the guitar virtuosos best songs. Desribing what fans will get from the new DVD/CD, the press release from Favored Nations stated, "The 2 hour and 40 minute set contains several new tracks and re-orchestrated pieces culled from his rich catalog. His guitar-wielding extravaganza in 'The Murder' is an artistic performance piece that must be seen to be believed."
Steve's performance on the "Sound Thories" world tour is definitely a special one as beside his predigious achievement as being one of the best guitarists in the world, on the tour and especially that concert n at State Theatre the guitar virtuoso, tap great musicians along with him. The musicians that helped the guitar master are, Bryan Beller (bass), Jeremy Colson (drums), Dave Weiner (guitar and sitar) and Zack Wiesinger (lap steel), with the addition of two violinist Alex DePue and Ann Marie Calhoun.
Those line-up of great musicians are certainly something that Steve always desired as he only wanted to entertain his fans. Speaking about this the former Whitesnake guitarist stated, "When I put a band and a show together I try to create an entertainment experience that I would like to have if I was sitting in the audience. I like to witness great musicianship but nothing too cerebral or overindulgent, I like to be stimulated by a large dynamic range of emotional intensities and melodic richness, I enjoy when people love their instrument and it shows by their oneness with it, I like to feel as though I'm part of a family with the audience and the band, and I like to walk away feeling uplifted and not beat up by somebody's ego or the things they hate about themselves and the world. Explaining about the unique guitar tech Greg wrote on the column, "Punchy Legato is a term I use to describe a hybrid texture containing both legato and staccato characteristics simultaneously." Moreover, the guitar master also added, "Aside from this texture being relatively common in the world of high-speed overdriven guitar playing, it also happens to be the texture I personally prefer most when it comes to playing fast.
Beside giving the explanation, Greg also demonstrate the technique to make guitar heads understand what he meant by punchy legato and the usage of it. Not only giving the tabs, the guitar virtuoso also made a video that showed the fingering positions of the guitar tabs.
In other news, beside busy with his lesson projects, Greg is also gearing up for a tour next August, where her reportedly will be joining in a project band called the "Ultimate Zero Project". The new record will marked the reunion of Oni Logan and George after they part ways for several years, and the album is also being touted as their best after their debut LP "Wicked Sensation" that was dropped in 1990. Commenting about his excitement about the "Smoke and Mirrors", the guitar maestro, stated "I would say this new record is the album we should have put out as a follow-up to 'Wicked Sensation'... Better late than never, I guess..."
Beside George and Oni, making the new record a worth waiting comeback for Lych Mob fans , the two rockers are joined by great musicians as well, they are Marcos Mendoza on bass and Scot Coogan on drums. The contribution of Marcos and Scot on the new record somewhat pleased George, as revealing his satisfaction over the two's contribution, the ex-Dokken guitarist said, Marco Mendoza is literally a gift from Heaven. How they figured out how to stuff all that talent and goodness into one person I'll never know. they must have made a mistake at the factory! Moreover, supporting the release of their upcoming record in September, this fall the band are also planning to do a tour which will cover not only the North America but also Europe. Confirming the news, George stated to the press, "We have been expecting to go out in a support situation with a bigger act in the fall of 2009 to coincide with the release of 'Smoke and Mirrors' and were also expecting to visit Europe as well. It's been way too long since I've played Europe and we need to tour there extensively... last time LYNCH MOB toured Europe was with QUEENSRŸCHE... and I think that was 1991!"

However, despite already revealing the new record's title, Richie hasn't confirmed an exact month and date for his new release as he seems trying to focus on preparing his upcoming tour first. The upcoming album will be Richie's second outing this year as previously he has release a project album under the name Wilson Hawk, which is a project he did with Richie Zito. The album was titled "The Road".
Richie's announcement that he will be releasing his new album this fall, is not a surprise thing for his fans as earlier he has already stated that he is working on a new record and in April the guitar virtuoso said that he has already finished three new songs for the new LP. The new album itself will be the follow up for "Go Faster" that was released in 2007, until this year the ex-Mr. Big guitarist has releasing more than 10 records.
Beside revealing about his new album, Richie also asked his fans to come and see his upcoming shows in the U.S. as he will do two performances just before the end of the month, which will be on July 27 and 28. On the 27, the guitar master will be playing at Sam Ash, New York, where beside performing he will also by doing a meet and greet session, meanwhile on July 28, he will be playing at the BB King's, both shows are in New York. Not only will be playing with Simon, on the band, Greg will also joined by other famous names in the music industry, such as Eddie Jobson (Keys/Violin), Marco Minneman (Drums), and Michael Bernier (stick). The group along with the guitar master will be starting their tour on August 17 and set to end on August 19, however the "Kick It All Over" crooner confirmed that he will not be playing in one venue, which is in New York.
Beside gearing up for his tour in August, Greg is also busy preparing for his upcoming master class tour, which will start on July 28 in Toronto, Canada, in which he will be doing two classes (July 28 and 29) and the class is set to end after his visit to Boston on August 14. Aside from his masterclass, the virtuoso is currently busy with his webcam guitar lesson, which gives chances for all guitar heads to learn directly from the net, without seeing him in person.
Not only working on his solo projects, on his site, Greg also confirmed that he has been working with bass player, Jon Reshard's self titled CD, that can be checked dowloaded on iTunes. Collaborating with another musicians is an everyday's job for the guitar master, as previously he has already play alongside, Richie Kotzen, Michael Jackson and even Justin Timberlake.

At the 3 days festival, Mr. Big are scheduled to play on the second day which is on August 8, and it looks like the rockers will be the main act on the day as there are no other big names yet confirmed to play on that day. Beside the reunited rock act, there are other International performers that have confirmed to play at the festival, such as Mew and Vertical Horizon.
Beside performing at the festival, Mr. Big has also confirmed that they will be hitting some venues in all over the world, as the follow up for their recent Japan reunion tour. According to the schedule posted on Billy's official MySpace page, the band will be hitting on some venues in Europe, starting from September 4 until Oktober.
Beside preparing for their upcoming reunion tour, the band also confirmed earlier this month that they are preparing to release the DVD for their latest live show at Budokan, Japan. The special package, is set to be released to the Japanese market on September 9 and fans are guaranteed to witness a full length of the June 20 Budokan special show that erupts and simply rocking.

Just as it was previously promised, guitar virtuoso Andy Timmons finally announced the official date and venues of his Asian Clinic Tour part 2. Revealing the exciting news via his official website, Andy confirmed that the second part of his Asian tour will be taking him to countries such as, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore and Taiwan.This second part Asia tour is the follow up for the first leg of the tour which includes major Asian countries such as Japan, China and South Korea. The first part of the tour was started on May 23 until June 3, while the second part is set to kick off on July 17 and set to end on July 29.
Beside preparing for the Asian Clinic tour Part II, Andy also stated that he will be doing other clinics as well, the closest date for his upcoming clinic will be at Dallas on July 10. Meanwhile another clinic that he will be doing will be held on August 12, where he will be joining other top guitarists such as Greg Howe and Paul Gilbert at a master class conduct by Guitar Workshop Plus in Vancouver, Canada.
Previously, Andy has also did a special clinic at Meinl guitar festival in Germany in which beside giving his usual guitar class, the guitar master also did a performance their. Not only performing solo, on the event the ex-Danger Danger axeman also collaborate with Steve Vai, playing some special tracks such as Jimi Hendrix's "Little Wing" and Michael Jackson's tribute of "Beat It".

Expressing his excitement with his new endorsement with the renown guitar company, Tony ait was quoted on his MySpace page stated,"It's a real honor to be part of the Ibanez endorsee family," said Tony, "and I'm looking forward to breaking out the 7 and 8-strings on the road!" With the new deal, means the guitar virtuoso will be joining the list of other guitar masters such as, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Paul Gilbert and many more.
Beside his new endorsement, previously, Tony has also announced the schedule and venues for his band's upcoming European tour which will be set to kick off on September 26 until October 11. However there are some venues that haven't been confirmed by the guitarist, such as at Planet X's shows in Poland.
Tony's reunion with the band, actually happened not so long ago, to be precise actually on April 18, 2009, the guitar virtuoso announced on his MySpace blog that he is rejoining Planet X, after leaving them in 2000. The guitarist is actually along with Derek Sherenian was involved from the beginning of the band, but Tony, left the band in 2004, to go on a tour with Steve Vai.
Having just finished their highly anticipated Japan reunion tour, reunited rock group Mr. Big has finally ready to give present for their devotees that failed to hit Japan, especially the Budokan show, as they will soon dropped the Budokan: Reunion Tour DVD. According to the news from HMV Online Japan, the DVD will be dropped to the Japanese market on September 9 and fans are guaranteed to witness a full lenght of the June 20 Budokan special show that erupts and simply rocking.Beside news about the new DVD release, the band also has more great news for their fans in Asia and Europe, still according to HMV Online, the rockers reportedly will be visiting other countries in Asia after Japan, such as India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and also Korea. As for the European tour, some dates have been confirmed as the "To Be With You" hit maker reportedly will start their European leg on September 4th in Estonia and scheduled to end on October 1st in Denmark.
Meanwhile, previously Billy Sheehan also shout out a news for their fans in Indonesia stating that Mr. Big would probably do a concert there in August, as a part of a festival called the Java Rockinland. However, there are still no final decision on that news as on the latest line up that the festival's official site posted, Mr. Big's name has been removed. However the band would probably do tour in Indonesia, on a regular tour instead of playing in a festival.
Beside releasing the upcoming Budokan:Reunion CD and DVD, previously just before their Japan reunion tour the band has already dropped a special compilation album titled "Next Time Around: The Best of Mr. Big". On the album beside releasing their hits, the rock act also included two new tracks, "Next Time Around" and "Hold Your Head Up". More official confirmation about Mr. Big will be provided as soon as possible, till than keep on rockin guys!!!

The new album itself debuted at #6 this week, ahead of albums from today's pop idol Hannah Montana's sountrack and Lady Gaga. Confirming the news on the band's official MySpace blog, Mike Portnoy wrote, "DT cracks the US Top 10!!!! Just got this below email from our A&R guy at Roadrunner.... Dream Theater's Black Clouds & Silver Linings entered the US Billboard Charts today at #6!!
Moreover, expressing his happiness over the new album's succes Mike stated, "This is truly amazing....that after almost 25 years together, this band is still growing and progressing and doing bigger and better numbers than ever.....I can't think of many bands that can claim that..." The drummer than added, "Plus - a progressive metal album with four songs over 12 minutes in the US Top 10?(wedged between Jonas Brothers, Eminem and Hannah Montana!) Hell must've frozen over!!!!"(this must be a first of its kind.....)
Just as Mike explained, the news about the new album's great achievement was received from one of the A&R guy on the band's label, Roadrunner Records, Monte Conner who also stated that the first week selling of the new album itself is the highest of the band's career. "That is also DT’s highest first week units total ever - handily beating “Awake” which did 36,160 first week back in October 1994 (#32 on the chart). “Awake” was the first (and very heavily anticipated) DT album in the wake of the band’s previous breakthrough album “Images And Words” - with its smash hit “Pull Me Under” - and yet here we are 15 years later totally crushing it," Monte wrote on his email.
"Black Clouds & Silver Linings" is Dream Theater's 10th album and their second under their new label Roadrunner Records after releasing "Systematical Chaos" in 2007. The new CD itself was dropped to the market on June 23, 2009 and not only being released in a standard CD format, the new LP also had other special edition such as, a vinyl LP, a 3-disc Special Edition CD that includes the full album, a CD of instrumental mixes of the album and a CD of six cover songs.

The new venue that the band added for their upcoming North American leg is a show at the Lyric Opera House in Baltimore, MD. Beside good news, the band also posted a bad news as they have to cancel their show at Madrid, which was scheduled to be held today (July 1). According to their official statement the reason behind the cancelation because Chad Smith, the band's drummer, had a serious arm injury after their latest gig at Paris. However the band did promise the fans in Spain that they will be back to play there as soon as possible.

The band's new album itself, is the band's eight's studio album until this year and it also marked the return of Impelliteri previous vocalist Rob Rock, who parted ways with the band in 2000 right after the release of the album "Crunch". The new record itself took 3 years to finished and was recorded in some studios such as Village Recorders in Santa Monica CA; Impellitteri Studios in Thousand Oaks CA; Redroom Audio in Orlando Florida, and Mixed at the Green Jacket in Vancouver Canada.
Beside releasing the new songs on their MySpace, promoting the new CD, the band also do tours and for the upcoming roadtrip, they will be flying to Japan. According to the current schedule, the band will be playing at two venues, in Osaka and Tokyo.
Previously on their official MySpace blog, the band also stated that at the moment they are preparing and practicing hard for the upcoming Japan shows and will soon do a full leght U.S. Tour. "Impellitteri are preparing to tour Japan in July and then they will release Wicked Maiden in the United States later this year followed by a full tour," Impelliteri representatives wrote.
